A couple of patches were released today by Microsoft regarding holes that could allow a file that is either Excel or Movie Maker to install malware on a user’s PC.

Microsoft will release two security updates on Tuesday. The small number of updates is a downturn that was not unexpected.

Microsoft released a new security advisory regarding Internet Explorer on a Windows 2000 or XP system. To exploit the vulnerability,a malicious site reaches through the web browser by using VBScript and accesses “inherently unsafe” Windows Help files.
